More Media Bias (LIES): NY Times Spiked Obama Donor Story
Well, I guess I’ll keep reporting this stuff even though its an every day occurrence. We all KNOW that the mainstream media is in Obama’s pocket, but when will we get fed up enough that we will do something about it?? Let’s call it what it really is – they are liars and they are no longer objective newsmen. They are actively working FOR Obama and the liberals and we cannot count on getting accurate, truthful news from them any longer. I’m sick of it!!!

Congressional Testimony: ‘Game-Changer’ Article Would Have Connected Campaign With ACORN

A lawyer involved with legal action against Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) told a House Judiciary subcommittee on March 19 The New York Times had killed a story in October that would have shown a close link between ACORN, Project Vote and the Obama campaign because it would have been a “a game changer.”
Heather Heidelbaugh, who represented the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee in the lawsuit against the group, recounted for the committee what she had been told by a former ACORN worker who had worked in the group’s Washington, D.C. office. The former worker, Anita Moncrief, told Ms. Heidelbaugh last October, during the state committee’s litigation against ACORN, she had been a “confidential informant for several months to The New York Times reporter, Stephanie Strom.”
Ms. Moncrief had been providing Ms. Strom with information about ACORN’s election activities. Ms. Strom had written several stories based on information Ms. Moncrief had given her.
During her testimony, Ms. Heidelbaugh said Ms. Moncrief had told her The New York Times articles stopped when she revealed that the Obama presidential campaign had sent its maxed-out donor list to ACORN’s Washington, D.C. office.
Ms. Moncrief told Ms. Heidelbaugh the campaign had asked her and her boss to “reach out to the maxed-out donors and solicit donations from them for Get Out the Vote efforts to be run by ACORN.”
Ms. Heidelbaugh then told the congressional panel:
“Upon learning this information and receiving the list of donors from the Obama campaign, Ms. Strom reported to Ms. Moncrief that her editors at The New York Times wanted her to kill the story because, and I quote, “it was a game changer.”‘
Ms. Moncrief made her first overture to Ms. Heidelbaugh after The New York Times allegedly spiked the story – on Oct. 21, 2008. Last fall, she testified under oath about what she had learned about ACORN from her years in its Washington, D.C. office. Although she was present at the congressional hearing, she did not testify.
U.S. Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wisc., the ranking Republican on the committee, said the interactions between the Obama campaign and ACORN, as described by Ms. Moncrief, and attested to before the committee by Ms. Heidelbaugh, could possibly violate federal election law, and “ACORN has a pattern of getting in trouble for violating federal election laws.”
He also voiced criticism of The New York Times.
“If true, The New York Times is showing once again that it is a not an impartial observer of the political scene,” he said. “If they want to be a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party, they should put Barack Obama approves of this in their newspaper.”
Academicians and journalism experts expressed similar criticism of the Times.
“The New York Times keeps going over the line in every single campaign and last year was the worst, easily,” said Mal Kline of the American Journalism Center. “They would ignore real questions worth examining about Obama, the questions about Bill Ayers or about how he got his house. Then on the other side they would try to manufacture scandals.”
Mr. Kline mentioned Gov. Sarah Palin was cleared by investigators of improperly firing an Alaska State Trooper, but went unnoticed by The Times.
“How many stories about this were in The New York Times,” he asked.
“If this is true, it would not surprise me at all. The New York Times is a liberal newspaper. It is dedicated to furthering the Democratic Party,” said Dr. Paul Kengor, professor of Political Science at Grove City College. “People think The New York Times is an objective news source and it is not. It would not surprise me that if they had a news story that would have swayed the election into McCain’s favor they would not have used it.”
ACORN has issued statements claiming that Ms. Moncrief is merely a disgruntled former worker.
“None of this wild and varied list of charges has any credibility and we’re not going to spend our time on it,” said Kevin Whelan, ACORN deputy political director in a statement issued last week.
Stephanie Strom was contacted for a comment, and The New York Times’ Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications Catherine Mathis replied with an e-mail in her place.
Ms. Mathis wrote, “In response to your questions to our reporter, Stephanie Strom, we do not discuss our newsgathering and won’t comment except to say that political considerations played no role in our decisions about how to cover this story or any other story about President Obama.”

Barack Hussein and Michelle Obama do not like the United States of America as it has been and is so far at present. They make their dislike of the U.S. clear in their past and present words and actions. Those that they have associated with as their closest friends and co-workers and those that they have brought into his Administration share their dislike going to hatred of the U.S., even to terrorist acts against the U.S.
This is odd because all of them have lived and continue to live lives of privileged elites enjoying the best the U.S. has had and still has to offer.
Obama ran on the campaign mantra “hope for change.” The change was unspecified and remains in some instances unknown or at least not known clearly.
Obama makes some of his hope for change evident in Dreams From My Father, 2004, and The Audacity of Hope, 2006, the latter title taken from a sermon by Jeremiah Wright at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.
Before changing its website at tucc.org the church honored W.E.B. DuBois, self-avowed Communist, and Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, headquartered in New York City. Wright preached black separatism and hatred for the U.S., “Goddamn America” his most infamous remark publicized so widely and available at one time on videotape(s) sold by the church.
The church still honors Jeremiah Wright and proclaims itself Africa- and African-centered, teaching Black Liberation theology.
The Obamas are not known to have gone to a Christian church, except for rare ceremonial occasions since moving from Chicago to D.C.
In the books bearing Obama’s name, read by few – less than 1% of the 25 or less percent – legally or illegally-registered by ACORN U.S. voters in the ’08 election who voted for Obama, Obama makes clear his presumed father was Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. His presumed father abandoned Barack, Jr. and his mother to return to Kenya to his other wife and children.
Obama, Sr. was a Muslim, Marxist, political activist in Kenya before his death in a drunken car crash. Obama, Sr. was buried in a Muslim cemetery by Muslim rites – multiple sources.
In The Audacity Obama explains his entire life as “my exotic background,” p. 120. He says further in context I will leave for you to read, “I will stand with the Muslims,” p. 261.
Obama was raised in his “formative years” – his words – ages 6-10 in Indonesia by Indonesian Muslim Lolo Sotero who Obama’s mother married after they were abandoned by Obama, Sr. – multiple sources including Obama’s books.
Indonesia is a large majority Muslim-dominated country with some of the most violent Muslims against Christians and others anywhere in the world today – multiple sources.
In his Indonesia years as an adopted stepson Obama was known as Barry Sotero. He attended school as a Muslim, studied the Qur’an, attended mosque with his father and prayed rote Muslim prayers from the Qur’an – multiple sources including Obama.
At age 10 Obama was sent from Indonesia to Hawaii to be raised by his white grandparents, principally his white, bank executive grandmother. He was sent to an exclusive, private school. As he writes and says he was mentored in Hawaii, heavy into drugs and alcohol as a pre-teen and teenager, by Frank Marshall Davis, black writer, musician and another self-avowed Communist – multiple sources including Obama.
Some say Davis is Obama’s real father. Obama nor any other living person can be sure who Obama’s father is. Obama’s mother was a promiscuous child, impregnated as an unwed teenage college student by some black man, then an adult woman still interested in Marxist philosophy and men of color and Islam. She died at an early age, confirmed by Obama, it is reported due to sex-related cancer of the uterus – multiple sources including Obama.
From his experiences in Indonesia Obama said, the Muslim call to prayer “is one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset” – multiple sources including Obama.
From Occidental College Obama traveled to Pakistan on an Indonesian passport as an Indonesian citizen at a time when Indonesia did not allow dual citizenship, e.g. U.S. and Indonesian. In Pakistan he stayed at the homes of his closest friends – Muslim men and fellow students at Occidental – multiple sources including Obama.
Obama has made other admissions of his “Muslim faith,” including in a televised interview with George Stephanopoulos, ABC, who graciously tried to correct Obama – video of the interview and multiple sources for both Obama’s admission of his Muslim faith and love of the Muslim call to prayer.
That Obama shares the hatred of Muslims for the U.S. is not arguable since Muslim leaders have called the U.S. “the Great Satan” for years and vowed to destroy us, all Jews, Israel and since the 7th C. to take over the world for Allah, establish a worldwide caliphate with Shar’ia law and to convert, subjugate or murder all unbelievers in Islam. Obama is included in the latter along with his family if he were indeed an unbeliever in Islam.
A principle of Islam is to “seduce (fool, trick) them until strong enough to take them over.” Obama has certainly duped many in the U.S. and the world in pursuit of his aims, his hope for change in and of the U.S. and the world – multiple sources including the Qur’an.
Michelle said, “For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback” – Milwaukee, WI campaign rally on Feb. 18, 2008, YouTube, Feb. 19, 2008 and other public media sources.
She repeated her pride statement in Madison, WI the same day with some variation, “For the first time in my adult lifetime I am proud of my country and not just because Barack has done well but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and not just feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I’ve seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic, common issues, and it’s made me proud” -Madison, WI campaign rally, Feb. 18, 2008, on another YouTube, Feb. 19, 2008 and other public media sources.
Michelle’s statement was repeated in a multitude of media so favorable to the Obamas that Bernard Goldberg wrote a book titled A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (and Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media.
At Princeton as an undergraduate Michelle wrote a paper reporting on a study of the feelings of blacks before, while at and after leaving Princeton. Clearly an expression of her racism and ill feelings toward the U.S., the paper was well written technically but devoid of any value other than a catharsis perhaps for her hatred – her paper available online.
All this is odd indeed because not all get to go to Princeton, Occidental, Columbia, Harvard or any other prestigious U.S. or overseas schools. Only the privileged elite and the set asides for racial, ethnic and other preferences get to do so.
Thus the Obamas are privileged elite; mentored, aided, abetted and supported by Black Separatists, Socialists, Communists, Muslims and terrorists at their chosen church – TUCC in Chicago.
Obama was mentored there by Wright while working as an ACORN community organizer. The Obama’s were married and their children baptized there. At Occidental, Princeton, Columbia and Harvard, and in their jobs in Chicago the Obamas grew with and profited from their closest friends and co-workers. The latter included Rezko, Ayers, a variety of Muslims and other criminals in prison or pending trial and imprisonment – multiple sources.
With that background, laid out by both Barack and Michelle, Obama as President, is leading the U.S. to its knees in bankruptcy, preparing us to welcome “bailout” by those who hold the world’s oil and $ – we know who they are. Then Obama can surrender us to some form of Islamic dhimmi* under control of Muslims and Communist Chinese, Russians, Cubans, Socialist Venezuelans and others. Obama said the presidency is an office for which he is not well suited and later stated that a critical decision regarding abortion was “well above his pay grade,” at the Saddleback Forum during the campaign. Indeed he is not by virtue of his lack of qualification by prior education, training, work and life experiences. Furthermore and most importantly is the high probability based on all available evidence that he is not Constitutionally eligible to have run for President let alone serve as POTUS – multiple sources.
Through either ignorance, naiveté, inexperience, lack of qualification in his first real job, or deliberately as the most radical Liberal, strongly influenced at best by Black Separatists, Socialists, Communists, Islam and terrorists he is leading the U.S. to bankruptcy, ready to welcome “bailout” by those who hold the world’s oil and $, and surrender to some form of Islamic dhimmi under control of Muslims, Communists, Socialists and others – multiple sources.
Both 1) in ignorance, naiveté, inexperience and lack of qualification or 2) deliberately are possibilities, and all by his own admissions in his books – The Audacity of Hope and Dreams From My Father – and in his “campaign rhetoric” – his words again.
All Obama has done before, on and since Jan. 20, 2009 prove what he is doing in carrying out his plan. Either by accidental lack of qualification or by deliberate design the results of Obama are the same – multiple sources including Obama; please see whitehouse.org for the Obama/Biden priorities plan.
He and his Administration show no give, no willingness to deviate from his and its plan. He and his Administration treat the rest of us – we the people – as unfit to judge him and what he is doing to us, the nation and in the world. For the most part he and his ignore us, pressing on with their intents at a rapid, most destructive pace.
Given all that Obama and his Administration leave us no choice.
We can get rid of Obama by legal means maybe before it is too late by writing, calling, visiting our Representative, Senators, the White House, Attorney General, U.S. Supreme Court, Democrat National Committee, Federal Election Commission, the Electoral College although not currently in session, even and most especially the media.
These are our Constitutional rights to work with the people who we have hired and pay to work for us – we the people – not the other way around.
We must demand that they do their jobs, which all have neglected in one way or another, some grossly and willfully.
We must demand they require Obama to show “transparency in government” – prove he is constitutionally eligible to be POTUS and surrender his campaign finance records for independent audit. His campaign finance records are held much in secret. McCain’s are open and available, above board.
The records of proof of his Constitutional eligibility include his real birth certificate; colleges and universities admission, scholarship, attendance, performance records and significant work done at Occidental, Columbia and Harvard; and any and all of his records from Kenya and Indonesia. The Kenyan Ambassador to the U.S. suggested all this some months ago – multiple sources.
All loyal Americans will do this especially those who voted for him; otherwise their votes are lost. All he has done is unlawful, illegal and will be voided leading the U.S. further into anarchy, chaos and third world status to which he thrust the U.S. by running for and serving as President lacking proof of his Constitutional eligibility.
Race riots may result; they have before. They will anyway as Obama disappoints, fails in his promises of hope for change.
Disenchantment with Obama is growing; his approval ratings as POTUS are sinking quickly as is approval of his specific acts, some still secret, unknown outside of Obama and his closest inner circle. A significant and growing number of voters for Obama are expressing voter remorse and have been doing so for some months now – multiple sources, including Rasmussen and other poll takers and reporters.
McCain’s eligibility was determined by the U.S. Congress. Why not Obama’s? – multiple sources.
Liberal Democrat Obamaniacs are sucking us into distractions, majoring in minors, living in the past, and fussing over deck chairs while the ship sinks, along with Obama’s approval ratings. We are letting them do it to us – multiple sources. We must stop it. Stop them. Stop Obama now!
This is not the time to continue engaging in distractions, majoring in minors, living in the past or fussing over deck chairs while the ship sinks.
This is the time to support the President by doing what he has asked all to do – “put aside childish things,” his “campaign rhetoric,” support him in “bipartisan ways, give feedback for transparency in government, hope for change” – multiple sources including primarily Obama.
For those who voted for Obama not do to so shows they do not trust, have faith, belief in Obama. Not to do so shows they are cowards and liars, first to themselves.
We owe it to our brave men and women in uniform to do it. We are in a world war against Islamic jihadists. We have been so since at least the 1970s through seven Presidencies now with varying degrees of success, since the most recent resurgence of Islam in its history. Muslims have made further progress worldwide than ever before, and are on the brink of bringing down the U.S. and other world nations – multiple sources, including again Obama.
Obama is on one hand continuing Bush policies, continuing to put our young men and women into harm’s way overseas. Obama’s policies and actions are jeopardizing them and us on the same battlefronts in Afghanistan and Iraq, elsewhere, and encouraging both old and new enemies of the U.S. to challenge Obama in many ways.
Obama and Biden have said, Obama most recently we are likely to be hit again on our homeland – the U.S. – multiple sources, including Obama.
If for no other reason please do the right thing, help get Obama to prove his eligibility or not as POTUS and Commander in Chief, giving lawful, legal orders to our fathers, mothers, spouses, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, cousins and close friends who stand between us and more anarchy, chaos and certain destruction.
Our troops from low ranks to an Army Reserve Major General are challenging Obama as POTUS/CINC eligible to issue lawful, legal orders to them putting their lives in jeopardy – multiple sources.

Obama’s First Judicial Nominee: Another Slap in the Face of Christian Conservatives
by Mario DiazWhile President Obama continues to talk about unity and hope on his current “media tour,” with his actions he continues to divide, alienate, and disregard the millions of pro-life, pro-family Americans whom he is still supposed to serve.
The reversal of the Mexico City policy, expanding destructive embryonic stem cell research, the push to force doctors to perform abortions, and the numerous nominations of extremely radical nominees like David Ogden, Kathleen Sebelius and Dawn Johnsen, among many others, are just a few of the many actions where he has shown contempt for people of faith.
He continues to do so with his first judicial nomination: Judge David Hamilton to the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. An examination of Judge Hamilton’s record as a U.S. District Court Judge should bring chills to all freedom-loving people in America.
Judge Hamilton was the infamous activist judge who in 2005 ordered the Speaker of the Indiana House to immediately stop the practice of “sectarian prayers” at the opening of the legislative session. Apparently the prayers were too Christian for Mr. Hamilton. “[T]hey should refrain from using Christ’s name or title,” he ordered.
The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, where he is to serve if President Obama has his way, eventually overturned his foolish decision.
Hamilton also issued a series of rulings over seven years that prevented the state of Indiana from enforcing its informed-consent law requiring abortionists to inform women about the risks of the abortion procedure. The law was identical to the Pennsylvania statute that the United States Supreme Court upheld in Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey. But Judge Hamilton seems to have little concern for the law or precedent, and in a classic case of judicial activism, struck down the law claiming it imposed an “undue burden” on a woman’s ability to obtain an abortion.
Again, his stubborn and dangerous ruling was reversed on appeal to the Seventh Circuit, where the court strongly criticized his decision, calling it an “abuse of discretion.”
Before any of these decisions as a district judge, Hamilton served as a board member of the Indiana chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and as a fundraiser for the liberal activist group ACORN. He was later nominated by President Clinton to the district court and the American Bar Association (ABA) rated Hamilton as “not qualified” at that time.
But we all know what booting Jesus out of the public square and abusing your discretion to promote abortion will get you these days: a “well qualified” rating by the ABA and a promotion to a lifetime appointment on a federal court of appeals from President Obama.
I hope this latest slap wakes us up. Many conservatives were hoping President Obama would show some good faith by re-nominating some of President Bush’s nominees, as President Bush did with several Clinton nominees. Far from it.
No Senator in good conscience should vote for this nominee. Judge Hamilton has shown himself to be an activist judge all too willing to disregard the law to advance his ideology. To prevent such a judge from ever being confirmed is the very purpose of the “advice and consent” process.

Administrative municipal judge makes racially tinged remarks in ‘Dallas Weekly’ column

The lead judge of Dallas’ municipal courts has come under heavy scrutiny at City Hall for a racially charged column he wrote for a southern Dallas newspaper earlier this month.
In a column about Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins’ efforts to reform that office, Administrative Judge C. Victor Lander wrote in the Dallas Weekly that “black folks have been cleaning up white folks’ messes for hundreds of years, so why should we expect any different now?”
The column, published in the March 4-10 edition, has set off a storm of criticism and led to at least one City Council member’s call for Lander’s resignation.
“I am extremely offended and hurt by these unwarranted comments,” council member Mitchell Rasansky wrote in a letter calling for Lander to step down.
Lander, who like all municipal judges is appointed by the City Council, apologized Tuesday for the comment but said he does not plan to step down.
He said his column was intended to point out the hard work done by Watkins, who is also black, and does not reflect on his judgments from the bench or his work administering the city’s municipal courts.
“This is a very diverse city, and I try to look at the city with colorblindness not color-consciousness,” Lander said.
Council member Angela Hunt, who led a council committee that selected the city’s municipal judges, said she was troubled by Lander’s comment but said she wanted to speak with him before drawing any conclusions.
She praised his handling of a number of issues facing the courts he manages, which deal largely with traffic citations and other violations of city ordinances.
“He’s new to this job and new to having this much focus on his words. He needs to be more thoughtful in the future, and I’m hopeful he’ll clarify his statement,” Hunt said.
Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway came to Lander’s defense, saying he should not step down.
“Society has changed. People are able to put more on the table and discuss it without feeling like they’re being slapped in the face,” he said.
Mayor Tom Leppert declined to comment until discussing the issue with Lander.
Though Lander has been the court’s administrative judge for only about 10 months, he has served as a municipal judge for 12 years. And he has written for Dallas Weekly since 2004 or 2005, he said.
In that time, his column – tailored to the black readership it primarily serves – has pulled few punches when it comes to politics and race.
In a Feb. 28 column about the political dust-up over President Barack Obama’s former pastor Jeremiah Wright, Lander wrote, “I wanted to make sure that you who read this and other African-American newspapers know that the only place you will get the truth is from your own people, and you should be forever suspect of the mainstream media …”
In the same column, he also warned the black community against blaming others for its troubles.
Recalling a series of murders allegedly committed by minorities, he wrote, “What has happened to our community when our young people can even think about doing things like this, and we can only apologize and blame someone else?”
In a series of political columns, Lander has been relentless in calls for the prosecution of former President George W. Bush and members of his administration.
He has also called for prosecutions in Dallas of former district attorneys and assistant district attorneys who might have knowingly sent innocent men and women to prison.
“I, too, can [in the spirit of Christianity] forgive George W. Bush and the others for what they have done – but not until they are tried and convicted. It’s only fair,” he wrote in the Jan. 1-7 Dallas Weekly.
In an interview Tuesday, Lander said he separates his column from his work on the bench.
“While we do serve as judges, we maintain our independence. We are still members of the community, and we are persons who have a duty and a responsibility that if you see wrong, you try to right it,” he said.
Lander also said he considers his column more educational than political.
“I try desperately to educate the people … I really have a responsibility. God gave me a gift to be able to articulate things,” he said.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009President Obama on Friday reiterated for the umpteenth time his determination to develop a “new relationship” with the Muslim world. On this occasion, the audience were the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Unfortunately, it increasingly appears that, in so doing, he will be embracing the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood – an organization dedicated to promoting the theo-political-legal program authoritative Islam calls Shariah and that has the self-described mission of “destroying Western civilization from within.”
As part of Mr. Obama’s “Respect Islam” campaign, he will travel to Turkey in early April. While there, he will not only pay tribute to an Islamist government that has systematically wrested every institution from the secular tradition of Kemal Ataturk and put the country squarely on the path to Islamification. He will also participate in something called the “Alliance of Civilizations.”
The Alliance is a United Nations-sponsored affair that reflects – as, increasingly do most things the United Nations is involved in – the views of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The OIC is made up of 57 Muslim-majority nations. Thanks to support from Saudi Arabia and its proxies, the Muslim Brotherhood has become a driving force within the Conference and their agendas largely coincide.
For example, in 2005 a communique issued after a summit in Mecca declared: “The Conference underlined the need to collectively endeavor to reflect the noble Islamic values, counter Islamophobia, defamation of Islam and its values and desecration of Islamic holy sites, and to effectively coordinate with states as well as regional and international institutions and organizations to urge them to criminalize this phenomenon as a form of racism.”
Ominously, as part of its bid to “criminalize” Islamophobia, the OIC is seeking “deterrent punishments.” It insists that not only freedom of expression but all human rights be circumscribed by the OIC’s 1990 Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam, which concludes with the caveat that, “All the rights and freedoms stipulated in this Declaration are subject to the Islamic Shariah.” Translation: Liberties enshrined in the United Nations’ foundational Universal Declaration of Human Rights are largely rendered null and void.
The demand that no criticism of Islam be permitted is the pre-eminent feature of the Muslim Brotherhood’s efforts in the West. In fact, it is but the leading edge of the Brothers’ bid to suppress public awareness of the threat posed by their program in societies that pride themselves on religious tolerance, thereby facilitating seditious penetration and influence operations by the Shariah-adherent.
A playbook for the latter can be found in a publication issued last fall by the U.S.-Muslim Engagement Project being aggressively promoted to the Obama administration and Congress by a number of its non-Muslim participants. Notably, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright recently effusively presented to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee the Project’s book titled “Changing Course: A New Direction for U.S. Relations with the Muslim World.” Former Minnesota Rep. Vin Weber did the same at Grover Norquist’s weekly meeting of conservative activists last week.
Underwritten largely by George Soros’ and other left-wing foundations, “Changing Course” seems to reflect predominantly the recommendations of groups the government has established are Muslim Brotherhood fronts, such as the Islamic Society of North America and the Muslim Public Affairs Council. Both are represented in the Engagement Project’s “Leadership Group.” Accordingly, its book calls for:
c “Engagement with groups that have clearly demonstrated a commitment to nonviolent participation in politics” (read, the Brotherhood).
c “Not equat[ing] reform with secularism, nor … assum[ing] that reformers who advocate some form of Shariah as the basis for the rule of law will inevitably abuse human rights or adopt anti-American policies.”
c “Not supply[ing] additional ammunition to extremists by linking the term ‘Islam’ or key tenets of the religion of Islam with the actions of extremist or terrorist groups.”
c Launching “an education program comparable in scale” to “the more than $7 billion” invested in the “post-Sputnik U.S. commitment to math and science education” to “education on Islam and Muslims, sustained over a decade or more, focused on teacher training and curriculum in middle and high schools, and colleges.”
Emboldened by the promise of this influence operation and the apparent willingness of the Obama administration to embrace the Muslim Brotherhood’s agenda – in part, if not in its entirety – the organization’s assorted fronts in America are becoming ever more audacious.
In response to a long-overdue decision taken by the FBI last year to terminate “sensitivity training” of its agents by one of the most prominent of these fronts, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), assorted Brotherhood groups and operatives reportedly intend to announce that Muslims will henceforth cease any and all cooperation with U.S. law enforcement until CAIR is rehabilitated.
Such a step would call into question the patriotism of the many Muslims in America who do not embrace the Brotherhood’s Shariah agenda – something that would, presumably, be as offensive to them as it would be troubling to the rest of us. It could also expose those engaged in it to criminal charges of “misprision of felony,” conspiring to withhold information from the authorities concerning terrorist operations and activities in the Muslim community.
The message should go forth: Friends of the Muslim Brotherhood are no friends of America. We follow their guidance at our peril.

Not long ago, after a string of especially bad days for the Obama administration, a veteran Democratic pol approached me with a pained look on his face and asked, “Do you think they know what they’re doing?”
The question caught me off guard because the man is a well-known Obama supporter. As we talked, I quickly realized his asking suggested his own considerable doubts.
Yes, it’s early, but an eerily familiar feeling is spreading across party lines and seeping into the national conversation. It’s a nagging doubt about the competency of the White House.
It was during George W. Bush’s second term that the I-word – incompetence – became a routine broadside against him. The Democratic frenzy of Bush-bashing had not spent itself when a larger critique emerged, one not confined by partisan boundaries.
The charge of incompetence covered the mismanagement of Iraq, the response to Hurricane Katrina and the economic meltdown. By the time Bush left, the charge tipped the scales to where most of America, including many who had been supporters or just sympathetic, viewed him as a failed President.
The tag of incompetence is powerful precisely because it is a nondenominational rebuke, even when it yields a partisan result. It became the strongest argument against the GOP hammerlock on Washington and, over two elections, gave Democrats their turn at total control.
But already feelings of doubt are rising again. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid were never held in high regard, so doubts about their motives and abilities are not surprising.
What matters more is the growing concern about Obama and his team. The longest campaign in presidential history is being followed by a very short honeymoon.
Polls show that most people like Obama, but they increasingly don’t like his policies. The vast spending hikes and plans for more are provoking the most concern, with 82% telling a Gallup survey they are worried about the deficit and 69% worried about the rapid growth of government under Obama. Most expect their own taxes will go up as a result, despite the President’s promises to the contrary.
None other than Warren Buffet, an Obama supporter, has called the administration’s message on the economy “muddled.” Even China says it is worried about its investments in American Treasury bonds. Ouch.
Much of the blame falls on Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, whose appalling tax problems softened the ground under him before he took office. After his initial fumbling presentations, he became a butt of jokes on “Saturday Night Live,” not a sustainable image for the point man in a recession. And still the market waits for his answer to the banks’ toxic assets.
It’s also notable that four people lined up for top jobs under Geithner have withdrawn, leaving one British official to complain that there is nobody to talk to at the Treasury Department. Perhaps it was a bid to combat the Geithner blues that led Larry Summers, Obama’s top economic adviser, to make an unusual appearance Friday in which he defended the spending plans everyone is so worried about.
Yet the doubts aren’t all about Geithner, and they were reinforced by the bizarre nomination and withdrawal of Chas Freeman as a top intelligence official. It’s hard to know which explanation is worse: that the White House didn’t know of Freeman’s intemperate criticism of Israel and his praise of China’s massacre at Tiananmen Square, or that it didn’t care. Good riddance to him. But what of those who picked him?
Which brings us to the heart of the matter: the doubts about Obama himself. His famous eloquence is wearing thin through daily exposure and because his actions are often disconnected from his words. His lack of administrative experience is showing.
His promises and policies contradict each other often enough that evidence of hypocrisy is ceasing to be news. Remember the pledges about bipartisanship and high ethics? They’re so last year.
The beat goes on. Last week, Obama brazenly gave a speech about earmark reform just after he quietly signed a $410 billion spending bill that had about 9,000 earmarks in it. He denounced Bush’s habit of disregarding pieces of laws he didn’t like, so-called signing statements, then issued one himself.
And in an absolute jaw-dropper, he told business leaders, “I don’t like the idea of spending more government money, nor am I interested in expanding government’s role.”
No wonder Americans are confused. Our President is, too.
